Barnet Live is an independent site covering the London Borough of Barnet. It is not run by the council, it takes no money from anyone it writes about, and it publishes nothing it cannot point at a document for.
The borough we cover
Barnet stretches from Cricklewood and Brent Cross in the south up to Totteridge and High Barnet at the edge of London, taking in Finchley, Hendon, Mill Hill, Edgware, Burnt Oak, Colindale, Golders Green, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Friern Barnet and both East and New Barnet on the way. If something changes daily life in any of them, it is ours to cover.
Where the facts come from
What we report begins in the public record: the council’s planning register and committee papers, police.uk crime data, The Gazette, Food Standards Agency inspection results and other official sources. We use software to keep watch on those sources and to help draft routine updates, but every fact comes from the named record and links back to it. Where a record is ambiguous, we say so instead of smoothing it over. The local information pages are checked the same way and dated, so you can see how fresh they are.
Tips and corrections
Residents notice things long before any register does. If you know something we should be looking at, or you have spotted an error, email hello@barnetlive.co.uk. We put mistakes right quickly and note the correction on the page.
