New Barnet businesses: 57 firms in a month, Indian Ace shuts

A fishmonger for East Barnet, a padel company at Hadley Highstone and a computer games studio in New Barnet are among 57 companies registered at Barnet addresses in the month to 24 September, according to Companies House. In the other direction, the Indian Ace takeaway on Oakleigh Road North has gone into liquidation. (Companies House, incorporations with registered offices in Barnet, 24 August to 24 September 2026)

A registration is a statement of intent, not proof that a business is trading. Several of the companies below share a registered office that is plainly an accountant’s or a formation agent’s address rather than a shop. We list company names, dates and the nature of business each declared, and nothing about the individuals behind them.

Newest first: the ones with a shopfront in mind

• Sequoia Padel Limited (24 September), 85 Hadley Highstone: “other sports activities”. Padel is the racket sport that has been taking over tennis courts across London. (Companies House, 17479634)

Three further companies matched the search but sit outside the borough: one in London Colney, one in Potters Bar and one on Barnet Road in Birmingham. They are excluded from the 57.

Closing: Indian Ace, Whetstone

Indian Ace Barnet Limited, trading as Indian Ace, a takeaway at 433 Oakleigh Road North, Whetstone, went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 21 September. Members passed a special resolution that day that the company “cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business”, and appointed Neil Richard Gibson of GIA Insolvency Limited, Bedworth, as liquidator. The Gazette also records, in the past fortnight:

• S Brookes Limited, a road haulier registered at Burroughs Gardens, Hendon, in creditors’ voluntary liquidation from 8 September, with David Elliott of Valentine & Co, Barnet, as liquidator. (notice 5211968)
• A J Lifting Limited, Goldbeaters Grove, Edgware, wound up by the High Court on 9 September on a petition filed on 22 July, with the Official Receiver as liquidator. (notice 5210168)
• MRE Building Contractors Limited, which traded from Beauchamp Court, Victors Way, Barnet: its joint liquidators intend to pay a first and final dividend to unsecured creditors, who must prove their debts by 23 October. (notice 5216857)
• ALFS London Limited, of 314 Regents Park Road, Finchley, and Sapphire Dust Limited, trading from St Margarets Road, Edgware, are both in members’ voluntary liquidation. That is the solvent kind: in each case the directors have declared that all creditors will be paid in full. (notice 5216939; notice 5209747)

A liquidation notice records what the register says on the date given. Any company or director named has the right to reply, and a creditors’ voluntary liquidation is a decision of the company’s own members, not a court finding.

Several other Gazette notices this fortnight matched “Barnet” only because the liquidator’s office is in the town. Valentine & Co on Moon Lane, IQ Insolvency on Nesbitts Alley and Arkin & Co on the High Street between them handled companies from Canterbury, High Wycombe, Walthamstow and Southampton. Those are not Barnet businesses and are not listed here.

What it means for you

The month’s list reads like the borough’s economy in miniature: builders, property companies and small software firms first, with a scattering of the shops and services people actually walk into. Two of those, the fishmonger on Church Hill Road and the padel company at Hadley Highstone, would be worth watching for an opening.
