Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November 2026. The RAF Museum has confirmed a free 11am service, and here is the borough's full list of local services and times.

Remembrance Sunday this year is Sunday 8 November 2026, and Armistice Day is the Wednesday after it, 11 November. Barnet marks both across around twenty sites, from the parade down High Barnet’s High Street to the small wreath laying at a memorial bench in North Finchley.

One 2026 service is already confirmed with a time: the RAF Museum London in Colindale, free, at 11am. The council has not yet published its borough list for this year. Below are the confirmed details first, then last year’s list, which is the best guide to where and when your local service will be.

Confirmed for 2026

The High Barnet parade, Sunday 8 November. LoveBarnet’s diary lists the Remembrance Sunday Parade on High Street, EN5 5XP, on 8 November, with the note “details to follow”. No start time has been published yet.

RAF Museum London, Sunday 8 November, 11am. The museum has published a full listing for its Remembrance Day service: a commemorative service with prayers and readings, a performance by the North London Military Wives Choir, and the two minute silence observed across the site at 11am. It is free, all ages, and the museum asks people to arrive by 10.45am. Seating is limited and allocated first come, first served, with priority for anyone who cannot stand for the length of the service. The museum is on Grahame Park Way, NW9 5LL, admission is free and it opens daily from 10am, last entry 4.30pm.

What happens at the High Barnet parade

The parade is the borough’s largest Remembrance event and the parish church sets out the order of it on its own Remembrance Day Service page. That page still carries last year’s date, so treat the timings as the pattern rather than as this year’s confirmed schedule.

The parade leaves the Reserve Army Centre and comes along the High Street to the Chipping Barnet War Memorial on Church Green, arriving by 10.40am. A muffled bell accompanies its arrival. After prayers there is the two minute silence and then wreath laying, and everyone moves into St John the Baptist for an Armistice service, with ex service standards presented at the altar and the ceremonial turning of the page of the Barnet UDC Book of Remembrance.

Straight after the service the parade re-forms and marches past a saluting base on the High Street, where by tradition the salute is taken by the Monarch’s Representative and a councillor representing the Mayor of Barnet.

If you want a spot near the memorial, Church Green is small and fills up. The church is at the junction of High Street and Wood Street, EN5 4BW.

Its own website has been unreachable to us for months, so this list is taken from the Internet Archive’s copy of that page, captured on 13 November 2025. These are 2025’s venues and times. Four more did not fall on Remembrance Sunday at all. In 2025 they were: Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium, Holders Hill Road, NW7 1NB, on Saturday 1 November at 10.15am; Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Road, N12 0JE, on Friday 7 November at 10.30am; St James the Great War Memorial, Friern Barnet Lane, N20 0NL, on Armistice Day at 10.40am; and the Lodge Lane Memorial Bench, N12 8JR, also on Armistice Day at 10.45am. The two Armistice Day ones will fall on Wednesday 11 November this year. The other two move with the calendar and their 2026 dates have not been published, so ring ahead rather than assume.

The council also sends wreaths to Barnet’s twin towns, Chaville and Le Raincy in France, for their 11 November commemorations, and lights Hendon Town Hall red on Armistice Day.

Getting there and parking

No temporary traffic order for the High Barnet parade had been advertised on the Public Notice Portal when we swept it on 6 September, across EN5, NW4, N3, NW7 and HA8. The High Street is normally closed to traffic for the parade, so expect one to appear in late October. We check the portal for every Barnet order and list what is live on the Barnet roadworks page.

For High Barnet, the nearest car parks are Moxon Street, which gives a free first hour, and Stapylton Road, with Church Hill Road free all day if you do not mind the walk. Tariffs for all of them are on our parking in Barnet page. High Barnet station is a five minute walk from Church Green. For the RAF Museum, Colindale station is the nearest tube and the museum has its own car park.

What is still to come

The council’s borough list for 2026 has not appeared. On last year’s timing it goes up in the first half of November, and the contact on the page is the Mayor’s office at mayor@barnet.gov.uk. The High Barnet parade’s start time and the road closure order are the two other things still outstanding. We will update this page as each lands.
