Odos in High Barnet, Rani in Finchley and the Good Earth in Mill Hill lead 12 Barnet restaurants, with menu prices, opening hours and hygiene ratings.

The Barnet restaurants with the strongest public record are Odos on High Barnet’s High Street, rated “Very Good” for food in Harden’s; Rani, the Gujarati vegetarian on Long Lane in Finchley since 1984; the Good Earth in Mill Hill, open since 1981; and Café Japan by Golders Green station. Every entry was checked against the restaurant’s own website on 24 October 2026.

We have not eaten at these places for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry sets out what the restaurant says about itself and what it publishes about prices, hours and booking, then adds the public record: Harden’s, awards, and the Food Standards Agency hygiene rating. Prices come from the menus each restaurant had online on 24 October and change often.

How we chose

These are the restaurants that turn up in public records, not a list of our favourites. We started with Harden’s, which compiles its guide from diner surveys. We added places with a long, checkable history, such as Rani since 1984 and the Good Earth since 1981. Then we checked every one against the Food Standards Agency register and left out anything rated below 3. Two places that appear in Harden’s are missing because their latest rating is 1, and a third because the FSA register now shows a different business at its address. Every entry’s hours, prices and booking rules come from the restaurant’s own website on 24 October 2026; where a restaurant does not publish them, we say whose figures we used.
