Saracens open at StoneX on 4 October, then half term brings laser tag at the RAF Museum, ghost walks and Dear Zoo. 35 dated listings to mid-November.

Saracens start their 150th season at home on Sunday 4 October, and six days later they are back at StoneX for an Oktoberfest matchday. Then comes half term, Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, which is the busiest week of the autumn in the borough: Jet and Space Week at the RAF Museum, four nights of a ghost walk from High Barnet station, and five family shows at artsdepot. November opens with Remembrance and ends with the free Light + Flight festival at Finchley Lakeside.

  • Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, 10.30am and 1.30pm each day, artsdepot. From £15. A Little Angel Theatre co-production for ages 5 and up, 55 minutes, with a British Sign Language performance in the run (artsdepot).
  • Saracens v Sale Sharks, Sunday 4 October, 3pm kick-off, StoneX Stadium, Hendon. Early bird adult tickets were from £25 and under-16s from £12. Saracens’ first home game of the Gallagher PREM season, their 150th (Saracens).

  • Ockham’s Razor: Collaborator, Wednesday 7 October, 7.30pm, artsdepot. From £19. Circus theatre from Ockham’s Razor, 55 minutes, age guidance 8 and up. The performance is audio described, with a touch tour at 6.30pm (artsdepot).
  • Henry Naylor: Monstering the Rocketman, Thursday 8 October, 7.45pm, artsdepot. From £19. A 75-minute play, age guidance 14 and up (artsdepot).

  • Saracens v Bristol Bears, Saturday 10 October, StoneX Stadium. The club is billing it as an Oktoberfest matchday; the kick-off time is on its ticket pages (Saracens).
  • Airfix Model Club: Gloster Gladiator, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, RAF Museum London, Colindale. £5. Children aged 8 and up build a model aircraft; adults do not need a ticket but must stay with them, and places must be booked ahead (RAF Museum).
  • Light and Flight: A Carnival of Journeys, Saturday 10 October, 7pm, artsdepot. Adults £12, children 7 and over £8, under-7s free. A 90-minute carnival theatre show about Barnet, presented by Just Incarnival (artsdepot).
  • The Mystery Of… artsdepot, Sunday 11 October, 12pm and 2.30pm, artsdepot. From £13.75. A family show from DMA Productions and Little Angel Theatre, recommended for ages 7 and up (artsdepot).

  • 110 Years of Aviation Heritage in Hertfordshire, Monday 12 October, 3pm, St John the Baptist Church, Wood Street, Barnet. £3, free to members. Guy Thomas gives the Barnet Museum and Local History Society’s monthly talk, about 45 minutes (Barnet Museum).
  • Romeo & Juliet, Tuesday 13 October, 7.30pm, artsdepot. From £19. The Duke’s Theatre Company, 1 hour 55 minutes with an interval, recommended for ages 7 and up; a schools matinee follows at noon on the 14th (artsdepot).
  • A Nightingale Sang in Barnet: The Blitz and Beyond, Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 October, The Bull Theatre, High Barnet. £19 plus booking fee. Blue Door Theatre Company’s play with songs, built from verbatim stories of 1940s Barnet (The Bull Theatre).

  • Meadows, Memories + Making, Sunday 18 October, 11am to 2pm, Stephens House and Gardens, 17 East End Road, Finchley. Free, drop in. Finchley Pollinator Project plants a community meadow and runs a heritage display; only the bulb-in-a-pot workshop needs a booked slot (Light + Flight).

  • Dear Zoo, Friday 23 to Tuesday 27 October, artsdepot. From £15. The stage version of the lift-the-flap book, 55 minutes, from age 1. Performances are at 2pm on the Friday, 11am and 2pm at the weekend, and 11am on the Monday and Tuesday (artsdepot).

  • Under 18s Open Mic Night, Saturday 24 October, 7pm, The Bull Theatre, High Barnet. £10 plus booking fee. Young singers perform; slots go to those who email a backing track first, and the audience is welcome (The Bull Theatre).
  • Jet and Space Week, Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, RAF Museum London. £5 to £6.50 per activity, museum entry free. A clone hunt for ages 3 and up every day, a planetarium show for ages 6 and up from 24 to 27 October, and laser tag for ages 7 and up from 29 October to 1 November (RAF Museum).

  • Saracens v Newcastle Red Bulls, PREM Rugby Cup, Saturday 7 November, StoneX Stadium. The club says dates and kick-off times remain subject to broadcast selection (Saracens).
  • Remembrance Day service, Sunday 8 November, 11am, RAF Museum London. Free. Prayers, readings and the North London Military Wives Choir, with the two-minute silence across the site; arrive by 10.45am, seats are first come, first served (RAF Museum).   • The Wind in the Willows, Sunday 8 November, 10.30am and 1.30pm, artsdepot. From £13.75. Box Tale Soup’s one-hour version, recommended for ages 5 and up (artsdepot).
  • Light + Flight Festival, weekend one, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, Finchley Lakeside, Squires Lane. Free. The finale of Barnet’s year-long arts programme: installations, live music and DJs, film and workshops, with a second weekend at the RAF Museum and artsdepot on 21 and 22 November (Light + Flight). Regular events

  • Oak Hill parkrun, every Saturday, 9am, Oak Hill Park, East Barnet. Free, register once before your first run. A 5k of two and three-quarter laps, with toilets and a cafe by the Church Hill Road entrance (parkrun).
  • artsdepot’s weekly groups: the Creative Circle for over-55s meets on Monday mornings and the artsdepot Dance Company for over-55s on Friday mornings, both booked through the artsdepot box office on 020 8369 5454.

Getting there

artsdepot sits above the bus station at Tally Ho Corner, a short walk from West Finchley and Woodside Park on the Northern line. The Bull Theatre is at 68 High Street, EN5 5SJ, and High Barnet station is the nearest tube; the theatre’s how to get here page has the walking route. For StoneX, the nearest tube is Mill Hill East; Colindale is the stop for the RAF Museum.
