The company behind La Brioche on Brent Street, Hendon, has appointed a liquidator, Gazette notices show. Who creditors should call, and what is not yet known.

The company behind the La Brioche bakery on Brent Street, Hendon, has gone into liquidation. Notices in The London Gazette published on Wednesday 4 November show its members voted that day to wind it up.

The company is Y & B Bakery Limited, which trades as La Brioche. The Gazette lists two trading addresses:

  • 81-83 Brent Street, Hendon, NW4 2DY
  • 2 Canons Corner, Edgware, HA8 8AE, which is just over the borough boundary in Harrow

The type of liquidation is a creditors’ voluntary liquidation. Daniel Leigh of Leigh Consultancy Limited, in Borehamwood, has been appointed liquidator.

What we do not know

The notices do not say why the company is being wound up, how much it owes, or what happens to staff.

They do not say the shops have closed, and we could not confirm that either way on Wednesday evening. La Brioche’s website still listed both addresses and its catering service. Companies House still showed the company as active, but its record can take time to catch up with a Gazette notice. The company was incorporated on 7 November 2012.

What it means for you

An earlier Gazette notice, published on 26 October, set a virtual meeting of creditors for 10am on Monday 9 November. Creditors will be asked to nominate a liquidator and decide how the liquidator is paid. They can also choose to set up a liquidation committee.

If you are owed money, or you have paid for an order that has not been delivered, the notices give Leigh Consultancy’s number as 020 8455 6611.

If you are a customer with a catering order or a deposit, get in touch now rather than waiting until nearer your event.
