Four of Mill Hill Village CC's five Saturday sides won their Herts league divisions in 2026, a year after all five went up. It won a new T20 trophy too.

Mill Hill Village Cricket Club has won four league titles in a single season. Four of its five Saturday adult teams finished top of their divisions in the Herts Premier Cricket League in 2026.

The club, founded in 1868 and based off Burtonhole Lane in Mill Hill, announced the results in its own season report on 6 September.

It follows a 2025 season in which all five of its adult league sides won promotion.

The four titles

According to the club’s report:

  • 1st XI won Division 4A, winning 14 of 17 fixtures. It is the side’s second title in a row.
  • 2nd XI won Division 6B, winning 11 of 14.
  • 3rd XI won Division 10 East, winning 15 of 17.
  • 5th XI won Division 14 East, winning 12 of 16, in its first season in the league.

The Division 4A table shows the 1st XI on 458 points, 45 clear of Shenley Village’s 2nd XI in second place.

The only Saturday side not to go up was the 4th XI. It finished third in Division 11 East with 387 points.

“Never seen anything like it”

Phil Smith, the club’s Director of Cricket, called it “a staggering, totally unprecedented achievement”.

“It’s a season like no other, and I don’t expect it to be repeated,” he said. “I’ve been at the club for 40 years and never seen anything like it.”

He singled out the new 5th XI, which he said was “playing pretty much half a team of juniors”. The point of the junior section, he said, is “to feed the adult sides”.

A T20 trophy too

The club also won the first Middlesex Slam, a midweek T20 competition run by Middlesex in the Community, the charitable arm of Middlesex Cricket.

The pilot was played between six Barnet-based clubs, with four teams reaching finals day at North Middlesex Cricket Club in Crouch End on Monday 31 August. Middlesex Cricket’s own report sets out how the day went:

  • Mill Hill Village went in as outsiders, having finished fourth in the group.
  • In the semi-final they beat Old Elizabethans, who had been unbeaten in the group, by three wickets.
  • In the final they met their Barnet neighbours Totteridge Millhillians, who made 157 for 6.
  • Mill Hill Village were 79 for 7 after 12 overs, still needing 79 from eight.
  • They won by one wicket with a ball to spare.

Middlesex in the Community’s managing director, the former England bowler Angus Fraser, wrote that anyone wanting “domestic cricket at its rawest and best in 2026” should have been there. He said the Slam will return in 2027.
