Ye Olde Mitre Inne, the Spaniards and the Bohemia brewpub lead 15 Barnet pubs, with opening hours, food, dogs, gardens and hygiene ratings for each.

The Barnet pubs with the longest public record are Ye Olde Mitre Inne, the Grade II listed coaching inn on High Barnet’s High Street; the Spaniards Inn on the Hampstead Heath edge of the borough, which says it dates from 1585; and the Greyhound beside St Mary’s in Hendon. For beer brewed on the premises, the Bohemia in North Finchley is a brewpub. Every entry was checked against the pub’s own website on 24 October 2026.

We have not visited these pubs for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry sets out what the pub says about itself and what it publishes about hours, food and booking, then adds the public record: listed status, CAMRA’s pub listings, and the Food Standards Agency hygiene rating. Hours change often, especially around Christmas, so check before a long trip.

How we chose

These are the pubs that turn up in the public record, not a list of our favourites. We started with the Food Standards Agency register, which lists 110 pubs, bars and clubs under Barnet Council, and left out anything rated below 3 and members’ clubs. We then picked pubs with a checkable history or a public listing: Historic England, CAMRA’s pub listings kept by its Enfield and Barnet branch, and the Good Beer Guide. We spread the list across the borough, from High Barnet to Hendon. Hours, food and booking details come from each pub’s own website on 24 October 2026; where a pub has no website, we say whose figures we used.
